Public Equity
Public Equity
Public equity, also known as registered equity, includes those equity securities that are registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission pursuant to The Securities Act of 1933 or The Exchange Act of 1934. This is most commonly thought of as occurring via an initial public offering, which is a business process undertaken by broker-dealers or banks to cause a security to be listed on a stock exchange and for an active market in trading to develop in that security such that it is deemed to be "liquid" aka almost as fungible as cash.
